Wyalusing State Park Camping - 2014

Glenn Lake boat landing is along the Mississippi River, not far below the confluence with the Wisconsin River. Today it was slightly higher than normal. The kid didn't mind as she loves to get in the water. She captured a few small snails, and tried to catch a few tiny minnows. As expected, she managed to get her clothing wet. I think we'll come back here soon and canoe the back channels. It looks like a great place to explore.

Late at night I walked to Signal Point in order to take a nightscape shot. I'd set up my camera, and did a quick test series of shots just to make sure everything was working. Before I could even really begin, I tripped over a large rock that sits in the center of the overlook. It hurt bad enough I decided to head back to camp. On the way back I stepped in a hole, twisted my ankle, and fell on my rear. It was a very long, long walk back to camp... So glad I didn't fall off a cliff. All I got were a few test shots of the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers, with Prairie du Chien across from where I was perched.

After a little internal debate I decided to check in and let them check out my injury. No broken bones, but I have one helluva ligament tear. They gave me crutches, a compression wrap, and a refillable ice pack, along with stern instructions to "R.I.C.E." That means Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate...

After returning to camp my two nurses applied ice to my ankle and insisted I rest in the hammock. It wasn't a terrible way to pass a little time. While we hung around camp Teri & decided we'd leave at the end of the day. The weather report was calling for late night storms followed by a stormy Sunday. Since she'd have to do a lot of the packing, we thought it best to head back before everything became soaked.
