Relicts
2022-03-21 Pine Relict Thoughts
Early spring is here. Only weeks ago a blizzard covered everything and icy winds made being outdoors interesting, if a bit annoying at times. One this day however one of the earliest warm fronts of 2022 sat over the long ridgeline that runs west of Blue Mounds, WI. Elsewhere the world spun forward in its seemingly chaotic haste towards self destruction. Here time stood still for a few hours.
This ancient remnant is all that is left of a once vast pine forest. It covered the land just south of the ice sheets that ended in moraines not far from the north. In this place my imagination, unfettered, relaxed.
I’m so grateful to have been able to just enjoy a few hours of playing with camera gear, and sitting in contemplation. It’s a rare thing that not many are getting to share in these days of chaos. Hopefully, something beneficial to those who suffer will eventually come from my efforts as an artist.
I feel drawn to create again. After a long two years of change it’s time to stabilize things and move forward. A new spring is here after all.
