Meeting on the Square
I met Teri for a quick walk around the Capitol Square after I attended a BJJ class at Capitol Fitness. I'd brought my gear along so when she had to get back to work I thought I'd try capturing her portrait. Her office overlooking the Square is really awesome! I'm so proud of her. She's worked so hard over the years and it's great to see really flourishing here in Madison.

Freja made it to the top belt rank for the Little Champions level of training. That is for kids ages 5 to 7. She's trained for two years, and still gets a huge smile every time she gets out on the mat. We're very proud of how well she's done. She's become a very responsible, trustworthy child. When Teri had her home accident the kid responded by being very cool headed during the crisis, helping me secure mommy until the first responders arrived. She then helped get stuff ready and packed into the car while I directed. We believe her martial arts training helped prepare her for that emergency. Soon she'll be 8 years old and entering the youth division. She's sticking to it and perhaps we'll see her earning her black belt one day? All I know is that she inspires me.
Mother's Day Canoe Trip
For Mothers' Day I set Teri & Freja up with a little canoe trip down the Sugar River into Paoli. I dropped them off up stream of town and then I went to Paoli Mill Terrace & Park where I happened to find a little picnic table right by the stream. After setting up our food I then relaxed and watched the fish feed and the birds fly around. I also picked Teri up an awesome cider from The Hop Garden. When they arrived an hour or so later we all simply relaxed in the shade by the river.
