  • The Artist's Workbench

Last night we got to use Center Ground Studios as a location for a shoot. When we first arrived on set there were TOO many ideas of what we could create. After a quick exchange we took a cool down walk to a park and really discussed how she wanted portrayed. It settled us down and when be began to work it all just fell into place. Using the artist's workbench she and I exchanged ideas, refining the look of the shots. Her intuitive posing and understanding of form made for some really fun shots. The best though was her suggestion I learn how to instruct in yoga so I can better queue models. I may just have to do that. So many ideas. It was an amazingly fast four hours of work.

  • In Her Garden

The first time I went to Jessica's studio was a couple of years ago. As I stood on her deck and admired the garden I knew I just had to take a photo there someday. I could picture her in the lovely setting posing on the wooden gazebo/lounge. Recently we got together on a comfortable spring day for a relaxing session. She's been busy setting up a new website to promote her business and needed a new cover image. Her hope was that I could create a photo that'd represent her belief that through yoga and meditation one could not only connect to oneself, but also to nature itself. I hope I did just that. What do you think? Did I nail it?

When You're Taught By a Legend

When You're Taught By a Legend

3x World BJJ Champion 🏅2x Master World Champion 🏆MMA Record 20-5 🏆Cage Rage Former Champion 🏆Shooto Former Champion Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro came to Madison all the way from the East Coast to teach us. I really enjoyed his teaching style. He taught us how to play Single Leg X Guard, something I'd not seen before being just a Blue Belt. Not only did I enjoy learning new techniques from a true master of his craft, but I enjoyed his thoughts on how to train and approach BJJ mentally. I have to admit the best though was getting to talk to him at the group dinner afterwards. if I ever get to New York city I'll be sure to drop in at his school. Oss!

Let's face it, most of your time is spent training. Let's capture that too.
