2019-09-24 We spent three hours combing the prairie ridges of the Driftless. We explored the undulating terrain to the south of Blue Mounds. We really only stopped once to study a particular play of light together. The rest of the time was a simple exploration of the terrain and time spent talking. Listening to her I could understand her creative process as if it were my own. It's interesting to note that I believe I have seriously found a source of learning new metaphors and definitions of certain artistic concepts that I exist by. I've spent over a year delving not only into the very depths of the Blue Mounds, sinking into the very living ground itself through intimate labor. I feel of this place in a way that goes beyond location. I am spiraling outward now.
I woke ready to head out into the sunshine. It'd been a very rainy weekend and I was eager to go do something. I loaded up the gear and headed to Kathy's to pick her up. As I neared her family's homestead she texted saying she'd rather roll out tomorrow. I did a quick cruse along the landscapes she's wanting to work on and captured a couple of shots on my own. After only taking photos with my dSLR while on "gigs" it truly felt great to just roam around for a short bit, looking for scenes to capture.
